Student Success Statement
“The
only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies
on the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to success. Bad habits
are the unlocked door to failure.
Thus, the first law I will obey, which predeceth all others is – ‘I will form good habits and become their slaves.’”
Thus, the first law I will obey, which predeceth all others is – ‘I will form good habits and become their slaves.’”
--Og Mandino
What
my understanding is from this statement is that it relates the day before yesterday’s
statement about having god habits and keeping them and dedication and devoting
yourself to those good habits. So in turn, this statement says that you must
live up to the big rule of having only good habits and ‘making them your slaves’
on other words doing every good habit and doing everything that comes with that
good habit. The first part of the statement suggests that what makes you
different from succeeding (in life ‘metaphorically’) and failing is you habits.
Why? Because habits determine your life and whether you shall succeed or fail.
So again, don’t go near any bad habits, don’t start any bad habits, keep your
life and your good habits and you shall succeed! An example of this would be
college: you have just started your first year in college (4 yr. term) and you
have started a good habit of doing your homework before going out or anything
else. But you have been invited to a party and they offer you alcohol, if you
accept, you will be starting a bad habit. Avoid bad habits and succeed
.
