“A
man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder”
--Thomas Carlyle
A
rudder is what steers the ship, a guide. But it is more than that, if you think
about it; someone who has no goal in mind for life is just like a ship without
its steer(ing wheel)! You do not know where you are going and you will
eventually get into trouble or in this case you might crash and ruin your ship
(ship as in life). And when you do have goals and a steer, you know exactly
where you are going and what you are going for, what you are going to do there,
you have everything planned out. That’s why goals are so important, just like a
ship’s rudder is important. This marvelous example of setting goals for
yourself, but another example would be comparing someone that doesn’t have
goals to someone who went on a trip w/out a map! Both wouldn’t know where they
are going and both would get loss and end up in trouble or worse-death,
injury, etc. So in conclusion, have a goal set, or you will get lost and ‘steer’
out of control.
