Student Success Statement
“In life
as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are.”

If you have no idea what you want to do with your life,
probabilities are that you probably won’t go far. If you want to go somewhere,
but don’t know where, chances are that you won’t really go where you wanted to
do. Here, the theme behind this statement is goals, when someone
wants to do something they set a goal and commit to that goal and keep going at
it until they succeed. But for others who do not know what they want to be or
do in life, they do not have goals, so therefore they will not succeed. You
must have goals, to go places and do things, or else you won’t know what you
are doing. The example here is playing a game of football and you do not know
where the ‘goalposts’ are so you do not know where you are going and there is
no marks on the floor with the yardage, so you don’t know how far you have to
run, so what happens? You are lost, and you don’t win (succeed); all because
there were no ‘goals’ in this case are goalposts to guide you and things you
want to achieve.
