Student Success Statement - Calvin Coolidge

Student Success Statement

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problem of the human race.”

--Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States

Calvin Coolidge is wise, since he recognizes that nothing will ever replace persistence. Nothing will be the same or male up for persistence—its persistence or nothing. An example would be, you are a genius or having a talent. Such as, if you are the smartest in your class, if you don’t persist and put effort into what you do, then there will be no outcome. Now, if you are the best basketball player on the team, but you don’t persist and push yourself every day to do better; then don’t expect to get a scholarship. You can be the best in a certain criteria, but if you don’t work towards it, all that won’t matter. Persistence!
